The Historic Renovation
On Gedempte Zuiderdiep in the historic center of Groningen, we completely renovated a period townhouse from the inside out. The property suffered from uneven floors, outdated services, and a dark floorplan unsuited to contemporary living. Working closely with the client, we established a detailed restoration plan honoring the building's historical integrity.
Our Structural and Craft Approach
The building was stripped back to bare brickwork and timber floor joists. All electrical, water, and heating services were installed anew. Subfloors were leveled with underfloor heating circuits. Finishing materials included solid oak flooring and natural stone in wet areas, with careful restoration of original plaster cornices and ceiling beams.
The Finished Residence
The end result is an inviting, energy-conscious residence that fully retains its historic charm. The client expressed great appreciation for our transparent coordination throughout the project.
